Mislabel Madness

Has your dahlia not bloomed true to type this season? Unfortunately, it happens to us all and it’s a mega bummer.

This 2025 season I was able to offer over 1500 different varieties for sale, as tubers and cuttings.

If you purchased something you think is incorrect and I also confirm it to be wrong, I offer my sincerest apologies and will immediately log a credit in your name for next season for the amount paid. Your support, your orders & your grace matter to me, big time.

I strive to always keep the most accurate data / labels / counts but sadly, errors can happen with a few dozen let alone this level of stock.

Tagging protocols:
* Planting each tuber with its tag securely attached
* Each plant will be labeled with a tree tag at the stake and base of plant
* Each pot will be labeled with permanent marker, not a tag
* When I have the stock from multiple people, I use an A,B,C tagging system to know what came from who
* Once blooms arrive, plants are color coded with flagging tape, yellow = correct / red = incorrect, along with it’s name and ID #
* Every label will show the name and ID #

To try and take the sting out of the erroneous ‘gut punch’ of the garden crashers (though, surely beautiful none the less), everyone with a proven mislabel will have their name put into a special dahlia draw for the 2027 season. There will be as many draws as there are mislabels found… if we discover 5 baddies, we will have 5 draws and so on.

Below you can find a list of things of reports I’ve been sent of incorrect blooms for 2026 and what it’s believed to be.

While some might not see any issues with theirs and indeed have the correct dahlia… this page is for those that did see an issue and I’d like to help solve the mysteries as best I can. In some cases, it may have just been an isolated miss-tag before shipping.

SOLD AS BELIEVED TO BE – POSSIBLY

If you have something that is not what you ordered, I have enabled the following form to streamline things.

Once your message has been received, I will check my stock, or (if blooms are still pending confirmation) proceed to touch base with others that have been sent that specific cultivar. Since mistakes can happen for everyone in terms of plant tagging, I will need to see what you see in my own garden or in someone else’s in order for the credit.

All social media messages will be directed to submit this form in order to keep things in one place.

By using this form, it will help me a great deal with keeping things organized for us all next season.
